Scott began racing a stockcar on the dirt at “Cassidy Speedway” in 1992 and continued to do so for a couple of years. Then a close friend, Darren Kennedy, offered him the opportunity to drive his Sprint car following which, Scott was “hooked”.
He subsequently ran a sprinter at Cassidy, winning a few championships over time and then competed in the “Northern Sprint Tour” in Washington State winning feature events at both Skagit and Yakima.
In 2000, Scott raced in the A-Main at a “World of Outlaws” meet in Elma, Washington with the likes of Sammy Swindell and Steve Kinser, which he considers one of the highlights of his career. Recalling it he said, “They were way faster than me and destroyed me in the race, but just to make the A-Main was an accomplishment and be on the track with these guys was a thrill.”. Scott then drove several tracks in a “Tony Menard Vmac” car for the next few years. With the closure of Cassidy Speedway in 2005, he turned his sights on the local “WILROC Sprint Car” series.
Starting in 2006, Scott captured the 1st of 4 straight“WILROC” Championships which included the “Strawberry Cup” in 2006 and 2007 and also the “Daffodil Cup” in 2007 and 2008. On March 31st, 2007 he won the “Doug James Memorial” race at his 1st appearance at Evergreen Speedway which was also his 1st outing with “ASA/NSRA” on a paved track.
Another “Daffodil” win came in 2010 with also the “Roy Smith Memorial” and “John Bokma Memorial” cups and there were additional “Strawberry” and “Daffodil” wins for 2011 along with the “Billy Foster Memorial” and “Gary Kershaw” trophies plus “Most Main Events” and tying Jeff Bird for the “Surgenor” trophy as the Saratoga Speedway champion.
Scott’s biggest career win came in 2013 at the 200 lap “Salt City 200” at West Valley City’s “Rocky Mountain Raceways” in Utah where he won a $7,500.00 share of the record $57,000.00 purse which was the 2nd richest pavement sprint car race in the nation. In consideration of tire wear and fuel consumption, the race was split into four 50 lap segments with Scott taking the lead on the 152nd lap and keeping the fans on their feet during the last 10 laps with hair-raising passes of lapped cars in an attempt to fend off the very close challenges of a fellow competitor. It was also in this year that he claimed a clean sweep at the “Motorplex Speedway” in Vernon BC, setting a new track record of 14.753 for the ½ mile “D” shaped oval.
