- He began his racing career in go-karts at age 12. Moving to Claimer cars at Western Speedway in 1975, he won the Ted Birtwhistle Memorial Trophy, was named Rookie of the Year and ended the season 3rd in points. In 1976 he advanced to the Hobby Stock class where he won the N.W. Insurance Agencies Trophy, the Corby Cup with 12 Main Event wins, the Championship Race and was crowned Season Points Champion. 1977 saw him move up to the Super Stock class where he captured Rookie of the Year honours being the highest finishing rookie at 7th in points.
- In 1978 and 1979 he competed in the Northwest Open Competition Super Stock series where he gained numerous top five finishes. He ran the NASCAR N.W. Late Model series from 1980 to 1983. In 1980 he won at six different tracks and had two top five finishes. 1981 saw him become the first Rookie of the Year to win the overall N.W. Championship with six Main Event victories. He was also crowned the Yakima Speedway Champion. The following year he repeated as overall N.W. Champion with five Main Event wins. He was the first Canadian and second driver ever to win back-to-back Season Championships. He ran a limited LMS series in 1983, but also raced in 3 USAC CAN-AM Super Modified races. He won his first race in the open wheelers followed by a 6th and a 9th placing him fourth overall in the Olympia Challenge Series.
- He campaigned on the NASCAR Winston West series in 1984, placing 3rd in his first outing at Monroe, Wa. He also ran Winston West in 1985 and 1986 before managing Ron Ward’s NASCAR Southwest operation where the team won the 1987 Madera, Ca. Speedway Championship.
- He ran the N.W. Pro Stock series in 1988 and 1989 where he won both Fall Classic races in Yakima. 1990 and 1991 saw him run the NASCAR N.W. Tour, then he switched to the NASCAR LMS series in Yakima in 1992 and 1993. He only ran three events in 1992, winning once. He won the Mid Season Championship in 1993 and had back-to-back Main Event victories. He then moved to Kannapolis, N. Carolina.
- He ran in the Big-10 Late Model Sportsman Division at Concord, N.C. in 1994 and 1995. Won his first race, a 100 lapper at Concord, then qualified on the pole for his second event, finishing second. After moving to Concord and working as a CNC machinist, he raced in a consistent manner in the 200 lap events, always finishing in the top 10.
